Meta Platforms has introduced Meta Quest+, a new subscription-based offering for its virtual reality (VR) headsets. This move aims to further shape the growing yet high-investment VR market. Meta Quest+ will be available for the company's Quest 2, Pro, and upcoming Quest 3 devices.

In an announcement on Instagram by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the pricing details of the new service were revealed as $7.99 per month or $59.99 annually. The service is accessible from Monday for existing and future VR headset users.

The introduction of Meta Quest+ marks a significant step for the company as it strives to expand its footprint in the VR market. With this subscription-based model, Meta hopes to attract more people to its virtual reality ecosystem and improve user experience with consistent updates and features.

As part of the new service, subscribers can access exclusive content and additional functionalities on their devices. According to an official Meta blog post, Meta Quest+ works by offering monthly rotating content drops with five titles from Oculus App Lab developers during each drop period. Subscribers are also introduced to various benefits such as multiplayer privileges, premium avatar customization options, future rewards programs, including discounts, and early access opportunities.

The launch of Meta Quest+ demonstrates Meta Platforms' commitment to staying at the forefront of technological innovation and pushing boundaries in exploring new markets like virtual reality. As more players join this space, competition and investment are likely to increase, leading to rapid advancements in VR technology.
