There's a whole group of us looking for the elusive John Ratliff--our info about him may be faulty, but this is what we have at this time.  John was born in 1750 in Virginia and died 1832 in Arkansas.  Perhaps he was married to Annie (Anne) Dobbs.

 

One of John's son's name is Jobe Ratliff, born 1782 in Virginia and died Aft 1870 in Florence, Williamson County, Texas.  He married 1805 in Virginia to Agnes.  Her last name is possibly Fisher (that's totally speculative).  Agnes was born in either Virginia or North Carolina.  She died 1860 in Florence, Williamson, Texas.

 

One of Jobe's son's name is Joseph Fisher Ratliff, born 23 Sep 1816 in Madison County, Illinois and died 14 Nov 1904 in Fort Belnap, Young, Texas.  His 2nd wife is Elizabeth Hanover (Ross) Thomas.  Her first husband was Dr. Ross.  He married

Elizabeth (Eliza) 6 Jan 1883 in Young County, Texas.

 

One of Joseph's son's name is James K. Polk Ratliff, born 23 Dec 1882 in Texas --

(I've got to get more info) and died 11 Jan 1967 in Texas.  He married Minnie Ann Laney 18 Mar 1906 in Wise County, Texas.  She was born 15 Mar 1882 and died

16 Jul 1965.

 

James K. Polk Ratliff's 1st son's name is John Virgil Ratliff (never known as John --

he was called Virgil or J.V.)  He was born 17 Feb 1907 near Graham, Young, Texas and died 12 Nov 1986 in Lubbock, Lubbock, Texas.  He married Edith May Slape

30 Jul 1927.  She was born 5 Jan 1908 in Capp, Taylor, Texas and died 1 Feb 2002 in Lubbock, Lubbock, Texas.

 

John Virgil Ratliff's 1st son is Joie Ray Ratliff and because he is living, all I will say is that he was born in Texas.  He married Lorene Bell Rees -- she has passed on.

 

The only child of Joie and Lorene is Debra (me) and I was born in Texas.

 

There are others that I have been in contact with that claim John as their ancestor.  My father, Joie has joined the Ratliff group at Family Tree DNA and has 37 marker match with Rob Roy and Bob Ratliff.  Their ancestor is one of the other sons of Jobe.
