Many of the Ratcliff's in England acquired coats of arms. In examining a number of these Clarence Ratcliff found certain features that were almost always present, and thus these aspects seemed to mark their connection with the Ratcliff/Radcliff family. From these common features, my father had a composite drawn. Thus, in a sense, this composite more generally represents the entire Ratcliff family than any single coat of arms registered in England. By the way, Dad never did register his unique combination coat of arms.

The distinctive characteristics include a crest with a bull's head (denoting strength) and a crown, while the arms has a divider that is engrailed. A drawing of the composite is provided which you are free to use in any manner you wish. My wife, Brenda, enlarged the drawing and, using the enlargement as a pattern, cross stitched a beautiful coat of arms, which hangs on the wall of our living room.
